Reiki 2 Classes

Symbols for Distant Healing…

In Second Degree Reiki training you will receive the Reiki symbols in a Reiki attunement. The symbols are like keys that open the mind to even greater healing powers. This form of Reiki can be used for distance healing, across time and space, for people, animals, and situations. It is particularly helpful in hospice situations. You will also learn how to clear and protect spaces. You will learn visualization techniques to assist memorizing the symbols. This form of Reiki is especially beneficial to therapists, counselors, or teachers who want to bring healing into their work, but touch is not within their scope of practice.

Some great benefits of Reiki 2 training are:

• Using Reiki to manifest, such as Reiki for Resumes or to improve your job interview!

• Using Reiki for situations, anytime you are struggling w/ any situation you can send Reiki to it.

•  Distance healing for loved ones who may live afar.

• Using Reiki when touch is not possible.

You may find some teachers who group Reiki 1 and 2 together. It is my belief that you gain more from Reiki 2 if you have had some practice with Reiki before receiving the symbols. For this reason, I require at least one month practice between Reiki 1 and 2.

Prosperity Reiki Class

We had such a fun time at the last Reiki class, with 6 students & the cutest dog!
This Reiki class focused on Prosperity and the Law of Attraction.
I think we will offer this version of Reiki again in May because it was inspiring, even for me!
Saturday May 11th, 2013 is the next Reiki 1 class.
Reiki 2 Class will be offered in June.

Nettles are Natures Antihistamine!

Nettles (Urtica)

It’s Nettle Season once again, time to harvest Nettles as they shoot up in the woods or maybe even in your yard.  There are many places to harvest Nettles here in the Northwest.  I hope if you do go out harvesting, you use the rule of 20, which is you only pinch off the tops of one plant for every 20 plants you see. I have seen some real devastation of Nettle groves in area parks and it’s heartbreaking.

If you don’t feel like putting the rubber gloves on to harvest them yourself, I have seen them @ the Ballard Farmer’s market.  Nettles are nature’s antihistamine, if you eat fresh nettles at the beginning of Spring, you will prevent allergies to pollen.  Nettles are also rich in minerals and calcium. As a mom, I have found nettle tea to be the most effective treatment for growing pains (my son is going to be tall, he gets these all the time!)  Nettles are extremely nourishing to your blood and chi.  Nettles have a unique earthy flavor I just love.

I came up with my own Nettle Soup recipe, it’s similar to Potato Leek Soup w/ Nettles.

1 tbsp grapeseed oil

1 tbsp Olive oil

3 tbsp butter

3-5 cloves garlic

2 Large Leeks, washed & sliced

5-8 potatoes (Yukon golds are my fave for this)

Generous Quantity Nettles, fresh picked & rinsed

3 cups vegetable or chicken broth

1 tbls lemon juice)

Salt & Pepper to taste

1 tsp thyme

Saute Leeks and garlic in the olive oil, grapeseed oil and butter for 3 minutes, toss in chopped up potatoes, add 3 cups broth, simmer with lid on for 15 minutes.  Then add Nettles, simmer low with lid on for 5-10 minutes until the nettles look like cooked spinach. Turn off heat, add salt & pepper and juice of one lemon.  Then blend the soup in a blender or with a penguin hand blender.  I like to add roasted pine nuts and parmesan to this soup just before serving.

I have also made pesto with Nettles & it’s really great, just substitute Nettles for Basil in your pesto recipe (make sure to parboil the nettles for 5 minutes to soften the stingers before making pesto).

I also like to dry some nettles to enjoy the rest of the year.  With gloves on, I just tie string around the nettles and then hang them from a laundry line.  I have made massage oil with Nettles by stuffing them in a jar with grapeseed oil and letting it sit for 6-8 weeks.  Nettle oil is wonderful for tired muscles and again can be massaged on legs for growing pains.  Dr. Haushka’s makes a great Nettles oil with Arnica & Birch if you don’t want all the work of harvesting and making your own nettle oil.

If you don’t want to pick your own Nettles to make a body oil diffusion, I highly recommend Dr. Haushka’s Arnica oil which contains Nettles

Since my next Reiki 1 class is on St. Patrick’s day weekend, which makes me think of rainbows and pots of gold, I decided this Reiki 1 class will have a focus on PROSPERITY!   It also happens that 2 of the students signed up, asked for this and I have been working on my own Abundance as well, so it was synchronistic! I know so many LMP’s who are struggling to make it these days, in the era of Groupon and corporate discount massage places popping up, it’s hard to earn your worth.  Maybe on a deeper level, it’s hard to believe you’re worth your rates!

I have been very fortunate to have incredibly loyal regulars in Queen Anne, who thankfully value my work and pay me accordingly!

I would love to help empower other LMP’s know that they can make more with less! Charge what you are worth and you will attract clients who are willing to pay it, you will be giving them better massage or Reiki sessions because you are not overworking 6 clients a day at a discount.

Sometimes, you may need to re-record your internal mental tapes if you don’t believe you are worth it!

I have done a lot of research and work in this area, myself, as I grew up with some scarcity tapes of my own, growing up middle working class. Even having parents with a strong work ethic, I believed I have to work so hard to just get by and I have fought that belief!  I can work more like Rumi says “the only great work, is the work you love,” or as Marsha Sinetar put it in her book, “Do what you love, the money will follow!”  Your work can be your greatest joy with the right mindset.

How do you feel about the big “M” word…money? Moola, cash, income, accounts. Do you pay attention to your money, do you account? Do you feel and think … “Yes, I deserve to have all the money I need to live in perfect bliss.”  Try saying that. How do you feel, and where in your body do you feel the response to that thought? Is there any uneasiness? If so, where does it come from?

How do you feel when you are paying your bills?  I feel grateful to be able to!

What is your money vibration?

There is a money frequency that allows us to attract more abundance in our lives.  The often quoted bible verse, “Ask and it is given,” is absolutely true, yet you must be at a financial frequency to receive and then to hold onto what you receive.  This is why so many people who win the lottery, end up bankrupt just a few years later.  They didn’t work on their “havingness”, their money frequency wasn’t truly ready so they didn’t really believe they could have this money.  There was even a woman in the news who had won the lottery, but she was still claiming welfare and receiving food stamps, her mental tapes were clearly still telling her she didn’t have enough!

There is a universal law of attraction that states “like attracts like.” If you can believe deep inside that you are worthy, you are abundant, you deserve wealth, you will begin to see the change in your outer world.  It has to come from the inside out though!  Penney Pierce wrote “Frequency”, in which she states “If your energy state is high, fast, clear, then your life unfolds effortlessly and in alignment with your destiny.  If you have a slower, low frequency your life can be a series of snags and disappointments.”
